Ownership Transfer is used when an object is sold, adopted, handed over, or otherwise changes owners. The new owner continues using the same object without creating a new one.
Data Preserved After Transfer
- The unique object ID and QR Code.
- The object profile and photo.
- The complete observation history.
Warning: after a transfer is accepted, the previous owner can no longer modify the object.
Creating a Transfer as the Current Owner
- Make sure all object data has synchronized.
- Open the object detail page.
- Tap Transfer Ownership.
- Enter a reason when needed.
- Tap Create Transfer Code.
- Share the QR Code or transfer code only with the intended new owner.
A transfer cannot be created while object or observation data is waiting to synchronize.
Transfer Code Rules
- It can be used only once.
- It is valid for 24 hours.
- It can be cancelled before acceptance.
- It must not be shared with unauthorized people.
Accepting a Transfer as the New Owner
- Sign in with the new owner's Google account.
- Select Accept Transfer or scan the transfer QR Code.
- Enter the code when not using the QR scanner.
- Tap Check Object.
- Review the object profile, previous owner, and transfer reason.
- Tap Accept Ownership and confirm.
After acceptance, the object and its complete observation history appear in the new owner's object list.
Cancelling a Transfer
- Open the object detail page and select Transfer Ownership.
- Tap Cancel Transfer.
- Confirm the cancellation.
A cancelled or expired code cannot be reused.
Transfer Security
- Check the object name and photo before accepting.
- Do not share transfer codes publicly.
- Synchronize all data before creating a transfer.
